X-RAY

An X-ray is a test that uses radiation to picture the structures like the chest, lungs, the heart, bones and abdomen. A beam of radiation is used which helps to develop a black and white picture. X-ray is an excellent screening test for lungs and bone diseases. X-ray helps to spot the various abnormalities and in some treatment aspects.
X-rays are commonly used for

  • Bone fractures and tumours
  • Lung problems
  • Heart problems
  • Old age joint and spine problems
X RAY BARIUM & CONTRAST PROCEDURES :

In these procedures x-ray resistant barium solution or contrast is given through specified route and images are taken.
Procedures are like

  • Barium meal- for swallowing and stomach problems
  • Barium meal follow through and enema- for intestine problems.
  • IVP – for kidney problems
  • RGU and MCU –Urinary system related problems
  • HSG- Infertility problems

ULTRASOUND :

Ultrasound machines use technology of sound to give real time pictures. Inaudible Sound waves are passed through the body and the echoes are converted into images or video. It is used to examine liver, pancreas, spleen, gall bladder, uterus kidneys , their shape, size and position. The bladder may be assessed to know the reason for unexplained blood in the urine or to search for a kidney or bladder stone.
Ultrasound is routinely used in

  • Imaging of pregnant patients
  • Fetal imaging
  • Gynaecology and infertility problems
  • Newborn, neonate and children.
  • In Adults for abdominal problems
  • Thyroid
  • Neck
  • Breast problems
  • Soft tissues
DOPPLER STUDY :

Doppler is a part and one of the functions of ultrasound machine only. Even this technology uses ultrasound waves to give pictures of blood vessels. Vessels are seen as colourfull blue and red tubes.
It is used in

  • Problems of blood vessels
  • Blockage in Arteries
  • Blockage in veins
  • Varicose veins of legs
  • Neck vessels blockage
  • Fistula for dialysis
  • Vessels injury due to trauma or accidents

CT SCAN:

CT (Computed tomography) has become a routine and essential basic diagnostic tool. CT scan machine uses x-rays to image the entire body and give pictures of all organs like brain, lungs, liver, kidneys, blood vessels, pelvis and limbs. In some conditions CT is done after contrast injection in the veins. It will give additional and reliable information regarding the organs and diseases. It is also used to do biopsy and certain treatment procedures.
CT is commonly used for

  • Road accidents
  • Injuries
  • Infections
  • Tumours
  • Stones
  • Stroke
  • Blockage in vessels
CT ANGIOGRAPHY :

CT Angiography is used to obtain 3D pictures of the blood vessels of the brain, chest, abdomen and limbs with the help of X-ray scanner and computed analysis. CT Angiography delivers your doctors with more exact pictures of your arteries veins in comparison to MRI or Doppler.

ULTRASOUND AND CT PROCEDURES :

These machines are also used in certain treatment procedures or invasive diagnostic tests like

  • Guided Biopsy
  • FNAC
  • Chest or abdominal fluid drainage
  • Guided injections in joints, nerves and spine
  • Draining tube insertion

Department of Radiology

Diagnose first ! Treatment next …

Radiology and imaging is a branch of medicine that uses imaging technology such as X-Ray, Ultrasound to diagnose and treat disease. Radiology is the basic and most essential department of a hospital because treatment of any disease or problem is only possible after correct and confirmatory diagnosis. Radiology is part of diagnosis, follow up and certain treatment procedures.
Our hospital is equipped with state of art diagnostic machines.
X -ray - GE fixed and portable machines
Ultrasound – GE Logiq- E , Vivid – E and Logiq P9 scanners
CT scan – GE bright speed 16 slice CT scanner
